MAKE AN ENQUIRY OR REFER A CASE

1. MAKE AN ENQUIRY

Please email case details and full history, all radiographs, lab results, PLUS 3/4 line case summary to admin@islandreferrals.co.uk.  For URGENT (same or next day) enquiries PLEASE CALL (01983) 214747 and follow the Island Referrals option.

2. ENQUIRY PROCESSED

Referrals Coordinator will liaise with the Specialists to respond to the enquiry. For referred cases we will put together our proposal for who we think should see the case, and when – plus will give you and the owner our best prediction as to which way things might go, and some preliminary cost estimation. Because we won’t have examined the patient or talked to the owner yet, these estimates are intended to give an idea to the owner of what might be suggested – they are NOT a set-in-stone plan that they’re committing to. They are meant to help pre-inform people before they spend money on a consultation, to make sure that the consult is value for money for them and not a waste of their valuable resources.

3. ENQUIRY REFINED

we may need to speak directly to you (the referring vet!) and/or directly to the owner, if we need any clarification, and also to make sure that what we propose looks like it will be agreeable to you and to the owner

4. REFERRAL BOOKED

Our Referrals Coordinator will liaise with the owner to arrange a suitable appointment, and will provide full instructions to go with this, plus listen and answer all questions that arise.

5. FINANCIAL PLANNING

The financial side of any expected investigations or treatment can be looked at straight away, by our Referrals Coordinator and our Insurance Team, so that we can try to avoid any nasty financial shocks at any stage. We can arrange Direct Claims where appropriate, helping with cash-flow, although sometimes we need to fully Pre-Authorise payment with the insurance company. We will speak to owners carefully about this in detail, and will keep everyone informed every step of the way.
